York Minster
The spectacular York Minster is a world renowned masterpiece of architecture and design. One of the largest of its type in Northern Europe it is of cruciform design with an octagonal Chapter House.
City Walls
One of the great attractions that York is recognised for are the City Walls. Stretching 2.75 miles the walls encircle an area of 263 acres. Retaining all four bar (gates) into the City they are the most complete example of Medieval walls in England.
National Railway Museum
Get up close to over 300 years of history in York’s National Museum. Explore our giant halls full of trains and railway legends including the Duchess of Hamilton, the Japanese Bullet Train or marvel at the opulence of Royal Trains.
York Dungeon

Jorvik
The world famous JORVIK Viking Centre is a ‘must-see’ for visitors to York and is one of the most popular attractions in the UK. Visitors journey through the reconstruction of Viking streets, as they were 1000 years ago.
Ghost Walk
The Walk was established before 1973 and was an original creation believed to be the first in the world. The Walk aims to be accurate, authentic and genuine, exploring a world of folklore, legend and dreams, with no need for manage tricks or gimmicks.
Clifford's Tower
Clifford’s Tower is the last remaining part of one of the two castles built in York in 1068 by William the Conqueror. Originally part of York Castle on the West side of the River Ouse.

The Shambles
If one street could exemplify everything that York has to offer; the character, beauty and incredibly rich history, then it is the Shambles. The Shambles has stood the test of time, from being cited in 1086 up until recently being awarded ‘Most Picturesque Street in Britain’.

The York Guilds and Companies’ production of the Mystery Plays, using waggons moved between playing stations, recreates the spectacle of medieval festivities. The plays are performed from noon until dusk on 2 Sundays in July.
